I have strong automation experience from time spent leading automation teams in both the public and private sector. I've contributed significantly to automation practices at all levels of maturity, ranging from full automation & orchestration suites to providing point-automation solutions for time-intensive tasks in less-mature environments.
Many years of experience working in multi-vendor environments with a focus on service delivery - both as a provider and an end-user. Previous roles have included SIAM and ITIL4-aligned service catalog management and service delivery as well as general operations management for managed service providers and consultancy companies.
I have collaboratively developed and documented service delivery processes, defining both SLA and OLA requirements as well as integrated service delivery platforms across multiple providers in order to maintain consistency of service requests and incident records across each domain.
During my career I have gained experience in a number of regulated industries and have been responsible for technical leadership of compliance with regulations from independent authorities. As part of these responsibilities I have developed change control & approval processes, built security baselines, recorded and documented proof of compliance, and led architecture groups to propose infrastructure security improvements that have reduced organisational risk significantly.
I believe in leading by example and learning through sharing knowledge. I have been fortunate enough to lead a number of teams, both small and large, and have found that by building relationships with team members on a personal-level I have been able to help colleagues to develop, and also to improve myself. I pride myself on my ability to communicate clearly and effectively, taking complex requirements and making them undestandable and achievable.
I have mentored a number of team members in many roles, helping to develop on-the-job skills as well as enhance skills to earn them promotions and preparation for vendor/industry certification exams. I am also currently enrolled in the University of Adelaide mentoring scheme and offer my skills and experience to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
More recently I have also had the opportunity to deliver both formal and informal training to colleagues, clients and partners. This is something that I particularly enjoy as I've always found that explaining complex technical matters to people with little or no prior knowledge adds depth to my own understanding.
